I am a fourth generation Southern Californian on my mother’s side and the daughter of a Mexican immigrant father who died when I was three. I lived most of the first half of my life in the San Bernardino Valley. Although I have lived most of the second half of my life in Los Angeles County, I have a deep connection to the San Bernardino Valley and will probably always consider it ‘a’ home.
My book Dancing in the Santa Ana Winds: Poems y Cuentos New and Selected (Los Nietos Press) was released in July 2018. I write poetry, creative nonfiction, and fiction and teach creative writing privately online and in-person, at community venues, and for the UCLA Extension Writers Program.
